Dr. Pegado is the first and only comprehensive Paediatric Ophthalmologist to practice on Vancouver Island. After graduating from the University of Toronto, School of Medicine, he completed his Ophthalmology training in Vancouver, at the University of British Columbia. Previous training included undergraduate studies at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario where he was born. Sub-specialized training in advanced cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastic and strabismus surgery was completed at St. Louis Children’s Hospital – Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Pegado is both a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and board certified by the American board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

Dr. Pegado is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science and the Island Medical Program in Victoria, British Columbia. Not only does he perform most of the Paediatric surgery on Vancouver Island, he also has hospital privileges with the Northern Health Authority where he provides surgical care for children and adults in Northern British Columbia.
